About Position: Responsible for processing all visits for payment and recording the corresponding payments and denials.

Duties/ Responsibilities –
- Transmit Medicaid, Medicare and Private Insurance claims electronically.
- Generates statement reports for center collections.
- Types paper claims for facility services rendered at the clinics.
- Corrects and refiles the denied claims.
- Tracks denial patterns and provides a report.
- Ensures that the claims process is efficient and operating correctly.
- Provides recommendations and reports billing system concerns.
- Responds to patient and insurance company inquiries regarding the account.
- Provides recommendations for system enhancements to ensure maximum reimbursement and efficiency.
- Provides phone coverage for the corporate office on an as needed basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.

- Transmit claims.
- Post Payments.
- Process denials.
- Process return statements.
Qualifications – One to three years experience in the healthcare environment. Experience with Medical Billing and coding.
Education: High school graduate.
Required:
- Knowledge of claims processing in the health care environment. Basic computer skills. Understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
- Analytical ability to ensure that the claim is processed correctly to guarantee reimbursement.
- Prefer experience with NC Medicaid, Medicare and Private Insurance.
- Excellent customer service and telephone skills.
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Maintain professionalism in a stressful environment.
- Data entry and ten-key experience, attention to details.
- Requires frequent sitting for long periods, operation of standard office machines and computer.
- May require lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Requires the use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, telephones or copiers.
- Requires normal vision range.
- Work is performed in an office environment.
- Contact with staff and external clients/vendors.
- Generate statements.
- Maintain insurance library.
- Report denials caused by system set up.
Preferred:
- Prefer associate degree in college.
- Prior work experience in the area of processing.
- Prefer prior experience in healthcare billing.
- Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) preferred.
