About Position: The Medical Assistant assists the provider in providing clinical care to the patient. The Medical Assistant performs a variety of duties to include clinical, administrative and laboratory functions. This job includes a very large amount of patient contact.
- Work Location: Chapel Hill Community Health Center

- Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, (No Remote Option)
- Required Travel: None (Subject to change)
Duties/ Responsibilities -
- Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
- Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounters, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform providers.
- Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
- Assists providers with procedures such as EKG
- Administers Injections/ Phlebotomy as needed.
- Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection & sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
- Addresses needs of patients by completing forms accurately and thoroughly.
- Performs or assists with documentation of lab results, and collecting data.
- Participates in population management with other members of the care team.
- Reviews provider appointments the day before visit to anticipate patient and provider needs.
- Completes vision and hearing.
- Phone notes per PHS guideline.
- Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned and within scope of practice.
Qualifications -
Education: High School Diploma
Current/valid License: None
- One year as a Medical Assistant preferred
- Familiar with processing specimen for Lab Corp
- A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Performance Management Systems.
- Participation in an interdisciplinary team
- Completion of Medical Assisting Coursework
- Participation in an interdisciplinary team
- Prior recent experience in a healthcare setting (within past five (5) years)
**May have a combination of both education and experience
Pay Range - $15.15 - $20.36
