About Position: Utilizes the nursing process including: assessment, planning, implementation evaluation and recording of patient care and patient
education. Provides support to providers by anticipating needs and providing assistance in the provision of care. Coordinates services
with other members of the health-care team, internal and external, to provide complex patient care. Answers or returns phone calls.
Provides onsite and telephone triage. Mentors and participates in the orientation of new staff. Provides leadership and models
professional behavior for the Medical Assistants. Assists with the check in process when needed. Serves as a member of the
interdisciplinary care team and participates in huddles. Performs other duties as assigned. Practices within the scope of the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act and Piedmont Health Services' policies, procedures, and standards. Performs all other duties, as assigned.

Duties/ Responsibilities -
- Utilizes nursing knowledge and required skills to insure appropriate assessments.
- Assesses individual patient conditions utilizing clinical observation, medical record, verbal information and interaction with patient/family and care team.
- Identifies the impact of cultural diversity and lifestyle choices on patient condition and makes accommodations for such differences.
- Implements providers' orders effectively and in a timely manner.
- Responds quickly and performs proficiently and precisely during crises and emergency situations.
- Contributes to optimal efficiency and productivity of the clinical care team by anticipating needs of patient and provider during the medical encounter.
- Utilizes clinical judgment and critical thinking to provide appropriate advice or intervention in response to triage and documents appropriately.
- Documents clinical activities in a timely, legible, relevant, comprehensive, confidential and accurate manner.
- Follows protocol for reporting equipment malfunctions, safety hazards and incidents promptly to appropriate person.
- Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment appropriately.
- Contributes to quality control/safety by participating in routine checks including code cart, medications, equipment and refrigerator temperatures.
- Performs or assist with sterilization of instruments and cleaning equipment.
- Assesses learning needs of patient/family and selects appropriate teaching method based on age, learning ability, and other pertinent factors.
- Performs/assists in medical procedures, treatments, and tests using skilled technique, following all prescribed safety regulations and documents as appropriate.
- Routinely makes accommodations to patients needs relative to age, medical history, condition of patient, and type of treatment being given.
Qualifications -
Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current/valid License: Current/valid NC Registered Nurse's License and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required.
Required: One year of general registered nursing experience preferably within the last five years.
- The one year requirement may be waived when a Bachelor of Science in Nursing has been obtained within the last two years with coursework in Community Health Nursing; and a community health internship has been completed within the last two years.
Preferred experience: Previous experience in an ambulatory health care setting, Bi-lingual
