Piedmont Health Services, Inc. (PHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in North Carolina. Dedicated to delivering top-tier, accessible, and inclusive primary healthcare, PHS has proudly served for 54 years and remains the largest community health center in central NC. Operating 10 Community Health Centers, two PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) SeniorCare facilities, and 2 Mobile Health Units, PHS extends its services to residents across five counties, including Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Orange, and Lee.

At Piedmont Health Senior Care, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors in our community through our Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). We help seniors maintain their independence and continue living at home homes for as long as possible. We achieve this by offering comprehensive, personalized healthcare and related services, all tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of each senior we serve.

PACE emphasizes a participant-centered strategy, focusing on providing the right care and services that best support each participant's unique needs and goals. We integrate and coordinate all aspects of care, leveraging a team of dedicated doctors, nurses, therapists, dieticians, and other specialized professionals who work together as a care team to manage and address the complete health needs of each participant.

ABOUT POSITION:

ABOUT POSITION: Physicians at Piedmont Health Services, Inc oversee patient well-being and offer specialized care for the elderly at our facility. Physicians are tasked with diagnosing and treating illnesses, referring to specialists, and supervising medication plans.

  • SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday
  • REQUIRED TRAVEL:  Out of the area travel for conferences or meetings occasionally. 
  • BILINGUAL IN SPANISH PREFERRED

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The physicians are responsible for seeing their scheduled patients as well as walk-ins and add-ons, providing coverage during the operating hours of the Center, providing telephone consultation as needed, performing administrative tasks associated with the provision of medical care, participating in quality improvement activities and providing community service.  Physicians are expected to manage all patients and conditions within the scope of their training and approved privileges.  Reports to the Lead Provider.  Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • EDUCATION/BOARD CERTIFICATION:  Primary source verified Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree and completed residency.  All physicians shall be board certified or board eligible with certification pending.  In case a provider fails to pass board examination, employment will be rendered probational and circumstances reviewed; employment may continue at the discretion of the Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director until repeat testing.  Repeated failure to pass boards will result in termination.
  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: North Carolina license to practice as a physician is required and must be kept current.  Controlled Substance Registration Certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration ("DEA certificate") is required and must be kept current. If the physician does not possess the following items, they should be obtained as soon as practical and thereafter maintained: NC privilege license is required by the state of NC and must be posted in the provider's office, BLS certification is required.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORKING CONDITIONS: Vision of at least 20/40 with correction; hearing sufficient to converse over the telephone without misunderstanding and to understand conversation spoken in a normal voice 15 feet away; ability to speak intelligibly and clearly; fine motor skills sufficient to perform physical examinations and minor surgical procedures, write correspondence and fill out necessary paperwork; ability to walk or otherwise move down hallways and through doorways without assistance and must be capable of rapid locomotion in case of emergency (100 feet in 25 seconds or less). Clinical environment with exposure to chemicals, pathogens and patient body fluids

Adult, Geriatric (specific age groups for which the physician will provide medical care will be based on his/her scope of training and approved privileges.)
